This workshop provides training in OCLC's Local Holdings Maintenance Service, formerly known as Union Listing with local data records. Local Holdings Records are now in MARC Format for Holdings Data (MFHD) allowing libraries to load data into their local systems and automatically route ILL requests. Participants will view a live demonstration of the new service including how to search for and identify serial records, and how to create, edit, and delete a local holdings record. The option to batch load local data records will also be discussed.
To participate you will need your library's OCLC authorization and password for cataloging, and an Internet-accessible computer using at least Internet Explorer 6 or Firefox 1.5x, a headset with a microphone (for voice interaction), and computer speakers, or headphones (chat interaction available). This workshop is free if you are an IOUG (Illinois OCLC Users’ Group) member. Memberships are annual: $15.00 for individuals and $40.00 for institutions. Join at http:www.ioug.info/membership.html.
