Don’t know much about science fiction and fantasy books? You aren’t alone! By member request, Becky Spratford, Dominican University instructor and Readers’ Advisory librarian at the Berwyn Public Library, returns one more time to NSLS to help you distinguish between books within the Science Fiction and Fantasy genres. Becky will also help you to distinguish between the subgenres found within each of these reading areas, provide hints on how to conduct an RA interview specifically for sci-fi and fantasy, and give you detailed info on at least 20 of the most popular authors. Participants will also learn how to successfully market science fiction and fantasy offerings.

At the end of this session, participants will be able to:

• Distinguish between books within the Science Fiction and Fantasy genres, and know the difference between the subgenres found within each, as well as discuss pertinent nonfiction
• Conduct an RA interview specifically for Science Fiction and Fantasy readers
• Give detailed information on at least 20 of the most popular authors in Science Fiction and Fantasy
• Know how to use Science Fiction and Fantasy resources and reference materials
• Successfully target market your Science Fiction and Fantasy offerings
