Join us for learning at the Brookfield Zoo! The morning will be action packed so attendees can spend the afternoon exploring the exhibits and learning pieces at the zoo. This registration includes: Professional Development Training, Zoo Admission, and Parking. Please be sure to note that lunch for this event is on your own. Attendees are welcome to bring their own lunch or eat at the Zoo. If you leave the Zoo for lunch, re-entry is not included in the registration. Marilyn Brink, Manager of Professional Development and Early Childhood NatureStart Programs at the Brookfield Zoo, will start the day with a presentation on the NatureStart. Then, we will learn about Poetry Stops and Story Walks from Natalie Williams, Head of Youth Services at Indian Prairie Public Library District. And we will conclude in the afternoon with an interactive presentation from Jennifer Noncek-Eastman, Training Coordinator, Institute of Science Teaching Excellence at Chicago Zoological Society/Brookfield Zoo, on Next Generation Science Standards using the Dr. Seuss Book, Horton Hears a Who!.Agenda9:00-9:15 Registration9:15-9:45 LACONI Business Meeting 9:45-11:15 Importance of Nature Based Play and Learning11:15-11:30 Break11:30-12 Poetry Stops and Story Walks12-12:45 Next Generation Science Standards with Dr. Seuss12:45-1 Wrap-up1-4:30pm - Attendees are welcome to explore and enjoy the zoo with scavenger hunt-like activity
