Mary Kelly and Holly Hibner from the Awful Library Books website http://awfullibrarybooks.net/ will present an entertaining program to help you make your collection count! This session talks about the overall quality of a library collection. This includes the benefits and methods of taking a physical inventory, analyzing collection procedures and workflows, and the life cycle of a collection. Most importantly, learn how to measure a collection’s quality. Their approach to collection management will help all types and sizes of libraries to keep pace with the demands and expectations of their communities. Following this presentation, we will have a panel about weeding in different types of libraries, featuring Dawn Ritter from the Joliet Public Library, Paula R. Dempsey from the Richard J. Daley Library at the University of Illinois at Chicago, and Rachelle Bell from the Naperville Public library. If you have questions for either our panelists or the Awful Library Books ladies, please send them ahead of the workshop to Joy Anhalt, firstname.lastname@example.org. All library staff are welcome to attend.
