This is a meeting of the libraries awarded FY18 Project Next Generation grants.Project Directors and PNG mentors are invited to attend this in-person, statewide, mentors’ meeting to network with other PNG programs. From STEM and coding activities; civic engagement and experiences with Veterans; dealing with challenging/at risk participants and lessons from the trenches, this promises to be an information packed day to ultimately improve experiences for PNG participants.
Project Next Generation (PNG), an educational technology initiative of Illinois Secretary of State and State Librarian, Jesse White, was established to help educate at-risk students and bridge the digital divide. By providing technology training for students, with limited access to computers, PNG empowers students to succeed academically and eventually as independent, contributing members of society. Project Next Generation FY18 grants were supported by the Illinois State Library/Secretary of State with Library Services and Technology Act (LSTA) funds provided by the U.S. Institute of Museum and Library Services.
