THE AGENDA and many more details are available on the On the Front Lines webpage.

On the Front Lines is a three day conference delivering library education to front line practitioners of public, academic, school and special libraries. The purpose is to equip and enlighten front-line staff with training, exposure to the latest technology tools, and techniques that will enable them to effectively and efficiently meet the needs of their communities.

On the Front Lines will be held August 4, 5, and 6, 2014 at the University of Illinois Springfield, Public Affairs Center in Springfield, Illinois.

Dr. Steven Bell, Associate University Librarian for Research and Instructional Services of Temple University Libraries, will deliver the opening keynote address titled, Librarianship in the Great Age of Experimentation”. Approximately 45 concurrent sessions will address topics to help front line staff serve and engage their unique patrons and communities within the framework of our multi-type library system.

Topics will include emerging technology trends, MakerSpace presentations, safety and security in the library, aggressive on-line reference, the changing complexion of resource sharing and much more.

As libraries face fundamental changes due to technology, publishing, and tight budgets, participants are expected to learn innovative and practical ideas to implement in their home libraries.

Finally, if your job impacts the library experience for your users, then this conference is for you!
