Millennium Circulation II - Search Holds Mode and Paging List

Do you know how to search the database for all DVD's in which Brad Pitt appears? Can you pull up a list of all James Patterson books in our database that were published in 2001?

The emphasis in this class is on searching and placing holds, and managing the paging list and holdhself.

Topics covered include:
--Searching holds using all available indexes
--Keyword searching using adjacency and boolean operators
--Limiting searches using all available limits
--Placing item and title level holds
--Modifying, transferring, and deleting holds
--Managing the paging list
--Managing outstanding holds
--Managing the holdshelf

This is a GateNet core circulation class. This class is mandatory for all circulation supervisors and any library staff member who works alone at the circulation desk.

Learning Objectives
After attending this class, participants will be familiar with searching the database, placing holds, and managing various holds functions. The participant will also be familiar with managing the paging list and holdshelf.

The prerequisite for this class is Circulation I.

Type:   Workshop

Circulation II is an interactive class combining lecture and hands-on training. Participants are encouraged to share their experiences with the holds mode.

This class is offered monthly and is presented by Sue Pearson. This class is also available on demand when three or more participants are interested.
