***For Alliance Digital Media Library Participating Libraries Only*** Community Outreach: Introduce New Patrons to Download Media Learn creative techniques for introducing new patrons to your OverDrive download library. We'll showcase promotional ideas from high circulating libraries, plus you'll have a chance to share your own examples. Who should attend: Project Coordinators; Community Outreach and Marketing Staff. Please SAVE this information. It includes complete instructions for testing your computer (at least one day before the training) and access information for the day of the conference. The training will be conducted using ReadyTalk, which uses online web sharing and telephone conferencing. ***You must complete all steps (on the computer on which you plan on attending) below in order to attend the training. On the day of training, you will watch the training on the computer and listen to the training via a telephone or Skype.*** AT LEAST ONE DAY PRIOR TO CONFERENCE STEP 1: Conference testing and setup 1. Java install: Java is required for this conference. Please confirm you have the latest version of Java installed on the computer(s) you plan to use: http://www.java.com/en/download/index.jsp 2. Test Connection: Please test your connection prior to the conference here: http://www.readytalk.com Locate the 'Join a Meeting' box, and click 'Test your Computer'. A dialogue box will be displayed. If your computer is setup properly for the conference, you’ll see two green dots. If not, two red dots will be displayed with instructions for the Java install. 3. Screen resolution: The conference is best viewed using a screen resolution of 1024x768. 4. Internet connection: OverDrive recommends using a hard line Internet connection rather than a wireless connection. 5. Audio connection: A) A speaker phone is recommended for the audio conference. B) If your location wishes to attend but cannot dial in due to limited phone lines, please consider using Skype to listen to the audio over the internet. (Visit the Phone Connection Alternatives Discission Thread on the ADML Google Group for more info.) C) ReadyTalk allows up to 96 locations to call in to each training. 6. Location: For the benefit of others on the call, please choose a quiet location for your training. DAY OF CONFERENCE STEP 2: Web Conference Login 1. Login to the conference 10-15 minutes before the training is due to start. 2. Open Internet Explorer and go to: http://www.readytalk.com 3. Locate the 'Join a Meeting' box. Enter your access code - 5736006. 4. Next, Ready Talk will display the 'Participant Registration' screen. Please enter your information as prompted, and our staff will send follow-up information after the call. STEP 3: Audio Conference Login (required for audio) 1. Dial 1.866.740.1260 from your touch-tone phone or via Skype. 2. When prompted by the audio conference, enter your ReadyTalk access code - 5736006.

Renegade Reference is a networking group of adult services, public services, and reference librarians serving in libraries of all types in the Peoria, Galesburg, Kewanee, and Bloomington-Normal areas. The group usually meets quarterly at various locations to discuss issues relevant to public service librarians. Founded by Alpha Park Public Library staff members Julie Niemeier and Jason Zimmerman, the group first met on January 16, 2003, and consisted of 15 people. Despite several name revisions (Public Services Forum, Reference and Public Services Interest Group), the purpose of the group and many of the member libraries remain the same. The group communicates at http://groups.google.com/group/renegade-reference. All librarians interested in discussing adult public service issues are welcome.
