Limits on reciprocal borrowers:
It is the policy of members of the Prairie Area Library System to allow reciprocal borrowing among resident cardholders. Non-resident cardholders with cards purchased from system libraries are allowed reciprocal borrowing privileges on the same basis as regular cardholders. All patrons must use their home libary ( the library that issued their card) for interlibrary loan requests.
Patrons who present library cards from other libraries are not allowed to reserve materials owned by the Ella Johnson Memorial Public Library District. Reciprocal borrowers are restricted materials found on the library shelves at the time of their visit. If the patron has a resident library card from another library, the library staff will call the patron's home library to ensure that the patron is in good standing. If the home library cannot be contacted, the patron is not allowed to borrow books. Only after establishing the fact that a patron is in good standing at their home library will this library permit reciprocal borrowing.
Public computers are monitored by a time and print management software. Logging into the computer requires enter the barcode number of the user's library card. Residents of the Ella Johnson Public Library District are eligible for a free card. Residents of other communities may pay a $2.00 user fee to use the computers and recieve a guest pass. Patrons without a card may also use the express machine for 15 minutes.
