Have you started wondering what new technologies your patrons will be bringing to your library after this Christmas season? Will they want you or your staff to help them use their new tech toys with your Public Access Computers or WIFI? Or perhaps you just want to see what the new technologies can do for you and your library. If so then you need to sign up and come to RPLS Tech Trends on Tuesday, November 10th from 2 to 4 pm. Can’t get away from the library to be here by 2:00? Don’t worry. You are welcome to come browse the tech toys and informally talk with the representatives from 3:00-4:00.Representatives from Staples, HP and Best Buy will be present to answer your questions about the latest technology. There will also be computer technicians available to answer your questions.Kevin Wallace, Sales Executive with Staples, will be demonstrating the Sony bookreader, a flip-video camera, a digital camera and a laptop.Eleanor Wood from DPL will be demonstrating the setup and uses of a Wii at Tech Trends.Kent Leckrone, Home Essentials Customer Specialist at Best Buy, and Trisdon, Deputy of Counter Intelligence for the Best Buy Geek Squad, will be bringing an iPhone to demonstrate how to access the app store wirelessly, as well as a DSi (unopened due to strict policies) as an example of how kids are using Wifi, and finally a a laptop to show how a person could remotely access their own home server through the Wifi at a library.
