Podcasting Basics for Library Professionals is a two week online course that will run June 19 to June 30, 2017.

The online course is self-paced using Teachable.com. Register through L2 and login information for Teachable.com will be provided a few days before the course begins.

Two live sessions are scheduled for Monday, June 19 and Friday, June 30, 2017, Noon to 1:00 pm. Live sessions will be recorded.

Do you know local entrepreneurs, artists and patrons who have fascinating stories to share? Do you want to create a free platform to connect your library with your community? Have you caught the "podcast bug" but don't know how to get started? Whether it is a five episode show or an ongoing series, podcasting is an easy, fun way to make new connections, build meaningful relationships and share stories. This two-week course is designed for library professionals who want to learn everything about how to get their podcast idea off the ground. In addition to two live sessions to answer questions and receive feedback, this mini-course will discuss equipment, software, social media platforms and episode ideas so you can get your podcast going this summer.

Live sessions will be recorded and posted on the RAILS CE Archives page. More information on how to access the live sessions will be provided when the course begins.

Introductory Live Session: Monday, June 19, 2017, Noon to 1:00 PM
In this first session, we will review what you can expect over the next two weeks of class, as well as discuss how podcasts can help you develop new connections between your library and community. There will also be time to get to know your instructor and classmates and ask questions. Session will be recorded.

Closing Live Session: Friday, June 30, 2017, Noon to 1:00 PM
In this final session, we will wrap up everything that we reviewed over the past two weeks, as well as the importance of implementing an action plan so that you can incorporate podcasts in a sustainable way for your library and community. Come ready to ask questions and share ideas with your classmates. Session will be recorded.

Expectations: This two-week online course includes reading, suggested assignments and activities, as well as the weekly meeting that can be attended live or viewed as a recording. It is estimated that you will spend about 5 hours each week participating and completing the work for a total of 10 hours.
