RASS & RASSL Present Trends in Weeding and Collection Development

Please join us for this exciting session on weeding and collection development, brought to you by the Laconi RASS section in collaboration with the Reference Association of South Suburban Libraries, through a special grant made possible by RAILS.

Presenters include:
Mary Kelly & Holly Hibner – Librarians, bloggers and authors of Weeding Manual and Making A Collection Count: A Holistic Approach To Library Collection Management will be presenting “Weed ‘Em and Weep” excuses librarians have for not weeding and inspiration to get started.

Rebecca Vnuk – Editor for Adult Books, Collection Management and Library Outreach at Booklist Magazine, and author of The Weeding Handbook: A Shelf by Shelf Guide, will discussing how to come up with a weeding strategy and how to best to execute your plan.

Annabelle Mortensen, Access Services Manager at Skokie Public Library, and Stephen Sposato, Manager of Content Curation at Chicago Public Library, will each be sharing their knowledge of collection management trends in action such as staffing and centralizing collection development, patron-driven acquisitions, using metrics and analysis systems, RA and collection development and much more!
