.Jean-Claude Guédon, professor, département de littérature comparée at the Université de Montréal, presents "Open Access, the University, and the Debate around Quality vs. Excellence."A reception will follow the lecture. This event is free and open to the public, with registration required.Presenter Bio: Jean-Claude Guédon obtained his Ph.D. in history of science at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He is a long-time member of the Internet Society having served as co-chair as well as a member of the committee. He is also a member of Open Society Institute's Information Program sub-board, and a member of the steering Committee of CNSLP (Canadian National Site Licence Project) and Chair of the Advisory Board. He is the founder of the first Canadian scholarly electronic journal, Surfaces.
