.Jean-Claude Guédon, professor, département de littérature comparée at the Université de Montréal, presents "Open Access, the University, and the Debate around Quality vs. Excellence."

A reception will follow the lecture. This event is free and open to the public, with registration required.

Presenter Bio: Jean-Claude Guédon obtained his Ph.D. in history of science at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He is a long-time member of the Internet Society having served as co-chair as well as a member of the committee. He is also a member of Open Society Institute's Information Program sub-board, and a member of the steering Committee of CNSLP (Canadian National Site Licence Project) and Chair of the Advisory Board. He is the founder of the first Canadian scholarly electronic journal, Surfaces.
