Join the Butler Children’s Literature Center to explore the many facets of expression in books for young people, including a keynote address by award-winning author and illustrator Ed Young, and a variety of sessions on everything from expressive nonfiction to traditional stories.Includes box lunch and refreshments. 6 CPDUs available.Presenter BiosThom Barthelmess, curator of the Butler Children's Literature Center at Dominican University has experience managing youth services at the Austin Public Library and the Spokane County Library District. He is a frequent speaker at youth services workshops held nationally. In 2010-2011 he served as President of the Association for Library Service to Children (ALSC), a division of the American Library Association.Ed Young has illustrated more than 80 children’s books, 17 of which he has also written. He is the winner of numerous awards and honors, including a Caldecott Medal and two Caldecott Honors.
