Circulation I explores the Millennium Circulation Desk. We will explore all of the modes available on the Circulation Desk. Did you know it is possible to view individual loan rules, patron blocks, and the days closed table? We will also explore information contained within the patron record including all fixed and variable fields.Content covered in this class:--Create, edit, and maintain patron records--Adding a note or message to a patron record--linking and merging patron records--Searching patron records using all available indexes--Checking items in/out--Renewing items--Changing the due date and backdating upon checkin--Marking items lost or claims returned--Searching and viewing holds in the patron record--Collecting, waiving, and adjusting fines--Viewing fine history--Using the 'on-the-fly' template for checkoutsThis is a GateNet core circulation class and there is no prerequisite. Some prior familiarity with the Millennium circulation module is helpful. This class is mandatory for all GateNet circulation supervisors and any library staff member who will be working alone at the circulation desk.
Learning Objectives After attending this class, participants will have a better understanding of the components within the Circulation Module, they will be familiar with creating and maintaining a patron record, and managing fines and bills.
Notes Circulation I is an interactive class combining lecture and hands-on training. Circulation staff and supervisors will highly benefit from this class.This class is offered monthly and will be presented by Sue Pearson. This class is also available on demand when three or more participants are interested.
