This class provides an introduction to the Create Lists mode in the Millennium software. This function allows the user to bring together in a review file a group of records that meet specified criteria. For example, we might create a list of newly arrived items to display to patrons, gather item records that are ready for deletion, or find records that contain discrepancies in one or more fields. This mode may be used to search all types of records, including bibliographic , patron, item, vendor, etc. The records may then be viewed, edited, deleted, or exported.Topics covered include:--Uses of Create Lists--How to determine search criteria and construct a search--How to modify an existing search--How to group search terms--How to navigate within a list of records in a review file--How to sort, print, and export records in a review file--How to generate a statistical report from a review fileThis class is designed for staff members of GateNet libraries of any experience level. This is a basic-level interactive class, combining lecture and hands-on training.
After attending this class, participants will be able to enter search criteria, determine if the search is successful, and manipulate search results. Participants will also be able to print a list of records or export to an external program such as Excel. Participants will be able to use the Millennium Statistics mode to generate reports from a review file.
There is no prerequisite, however, it is helpful to be familiar with Millennium record structure.
