The class emphasis is on searching and placing holds, and managing the paging list.Do you know how to search the database for all DVD’s in which John Travolta appears? Can you pull up a list of all the books in our database, by James Patterson, that were published in the year 2001? This class will explore the Search/Holds mode on the Circulation Desk including keyword searching and all aspects of limiting.We will also focus on best practices for managing the paging list and the clear holdshelf mode.Covered in this class:- - searching holds using all available indexes- - special emphasis on keyword searching- - keyword searching using adjacency and Boolean operators- - limiting searches using all available limits- - placing item and title level holds- - modifying, transferring, and deleting holds- - managing the paging list- - managing outstanding holds- - managing holds that are ineligible for transfer or unavailable- - managing the clear holdshelf functionThis is a GateNet core circulation class. The prerequisite for this class is Circulation I. This class is designed for GateNet members.This class is mandatory for all GateNet circulation supervisors and any library staff member who works alone at the circulation desk.After attending this class, the participant will be confident when searching and placing holds for patrons and managing the various holds functions. The participant will be confident when managing all aspects the paging list and clear holdshelf.Circulation II is an interactive class, combining lecture and hands-on training. Participants are encouraged to share their experiences with the holds mode. Circulation Staff will highly benefit from attending this class.This class is offered monthly and will be presented by Sue Pearson. This class is also available on demand when three or more participants are interested.
