This class focuses on beginning skills in descriptive cataloging for books, as well as rules and practices for the bibliographic description of books in an automated cataloging system including:--Title and statement of responsibility--Publication and physical description--Where to look in AACR2 to find rules and guidance--How to determine main and additional access pointsReqired materials: If you have access to an AACR2 (Anglo-American Cataloging Rules, 2nd Ed.) manual, please bring. If you do not have access to an AACR2 manual, one will be provided.This is a GateNet core cataloging class and is required for anyone interested in cataloging library material. This is an interactive class, combining lecture and hands-on training. Prerequisite: Knowledge of a cataloging utility such as OCLC Connexion.
